Dr. Wendy Johnson

Dr. Wendy Johnson

Principle/CEO

Wendy Johnson is the Principle/CEO of MANAGING FROM AFAR (MFA). She brings 20 years of leadership, risk mitigation, continuous improvement, and organizational development experience. Wendy has been managing remote teams for over a decade. She is a solution based remote expert that understands how to transition teams and leaders to a remote workspace. Prior to founding MFA, Wendy held various key senior leadership roles, where she was responsible for assessing, evaluating, and reorganizing human capital, right-sizing divisions, managing various locations and multi-million-dollar budgets, leading large academic operations, adhering to compliance mandates, staff appointments and continuous improvement. During her tenure companies sustained zero compliance sanctions, improved employee morale and increased productivity, which favorably impacted bottom-line results. This was due to her keen ability to implement risk mitigating tactics and concentrated operational procedural strategies. She began her career as an accountant and has since worked for various academic institutions. Wendy has also facilitated graduate level leadership, career development and organizational behavior courses at various institutions.

Wendy has a BS in accounting/economics, an MBA and a PhD in administration and management. She is the author of Managing from Afar: How to Navigate in a Remote Environment and the highly regarded book: Missing in Action – Black Women in the Boardroom, a study of how the glass ceiling affects Black professional women. She has received numerous business and community accolades and is co-founder of the nonprofit, National Empowerment Group, Inc.
